Peninsula neighborhood associations are banding together to address the crucial role trees play in making urban neighborhoods livable and healthy. ReForest the City aims to increase the number of trees planted in public areas and boost the survivability of peninsula street trees. These efforts are especially important for higher density/lower income areas of the City where trees are typically scarce. Trees benefit all of us. There are several ways you can get involved with ReForest the City, many of which can be done on your own time. We are currently inventorying all street trees in the West End; designing some educational public events; planning to recruit “adopters” for next spring’s little saplings and train Citizen Foresters in basic tree identification and care.
