DESCRIPTION:Recycle Electronics at USM’s 4th Annual Community Electronic Recycle Day\nThe community of greater Portland is invited once again to recycle their unwanted electronics at the 4th Annual Community Electronic Recycle Day at USM on April 23\, 2016\, Woodbury Campus Center Parking Lot\, 45 Bedford Street in Portland. This is our 4th year holding the event\, which has recycled and kept out of the waste stream\, thousands of pounds of electronics.\nDisposing of electronics responsibly through recycling is crucial in keeping our community clean and vibrant. As the local public university\, this is one of many services USM has to offer to the community of Southern Maine. USM Resource Recovery Supervisor Steve Sweeney tallied the electronics recycled at last year’s event: \n• 51\,000 Pounds of Electronic Waste\n• 3\,500 pounds of appliances\n• 556 Cars (filled with electronics) were unloaded on site \nWe welcome any form of drop-off: cars\, walk-ins. Over the years we had someone arriving by city bus\, taxi and even on bicycle. Last year a bicyclist arrived with an old toaster strapped to his bike rack. \nThe recycling event is free and open to the public. We will be accepting monetary donations for Preble Street Resource Center at the event. Show your appreciation for free recycling by donating to this important Portland institution. \nThe following items will be accepted and recycled for FREE:\n• TV’s & Flat Panel TV’s\n• Computers & Laptops\n• Monitors\n• Hard Drives\n• Keyboards\, mice\, speakers & other peripherals\n• Printers\, Copiers\, Scanners\, Fax Machines\n• Stereo Equipment\n• VCR / DVD / CD Players\n• Cell Phones\, Telephones\n• Cameras\n• Air Conditioners\, De-Humidifiers\n• Refrigerators\, Freezers\n• Microwaves\, Toasters\n• And other household electronic waste \nPlease: NO batteries\, no light bulbs\, and no smoke detectors!
